We visited just 30 minutes after they opened, and there was no wait time—such a great start! The experience was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. My friends and I couldn’t stop talking about how tender, perfectly seasoned, and satisfyingly crunchy the chicken was—it was that good! It really set the tone for an incredible day at the museum. Highly recommend!

This Cafe is located in the lower level of the African-American History Museum. I ventured here in the interest of time because I really wanted to explore this Cafe before the museum closed, as did a lot of other patrons. The line was long but it moved along. They have a plethora of food options here. I opted for the fried buttermilk chicken, mac and chese, potatoe salad, sweet potatoe and 3 layer chocolate cake. My total was 40. I consumed & thoroughly enjoyed my food. The portions were satisfactory and the food was pleasing to my palate. I received good customer service here, and I was treated with dignity, courtesy and respect. This Cafe can seat a little over 400 people. The cafe was clean and well maintained. If ever I am in this Museum again I would gladly patronize Sweet Home Cafe as I enjoyed their food and I have absolutely "NO" complaints at all. And I forgot to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed the architecture and design throughout this Cafe. It was simply beautiful.

Best museum food. Menu reflects historic African American cuisine: from a Mac n' Cheese snack to a Fried Fish dinner. The museum is huge, so I stopped for a snack . . . then came back the next day for a full meal.

This was the best meal I’ve had in a museum. And there were so many options to choose from, my friends and I got a couple dishes and shared them. And they were all so good. We got fried chicken, Mac and cheese, curry and grits, and a quinoa bowl with beef. For dessert we had the pecan pie and some banana pudding.

BBQ pulled pork, collard greens and sweet potato make a very delicious meal. But I saw another row selling Kenya pot chicken, steam beans and curry vegetables which are even better. So do not queue once you enter this cafe. Do walk further in for another queue of more special African foods!

I had the fried chicken and cornbread. Really hit the spot. I had got my time entrance to the museum that day at noon on purpose to get lunch and I’m glad I did.

Be sure to reserve of free museum ticket before you stand in the line to come in. Grab a tray then visit one of the 4 areas each highlighting a different style of food. Everything is amazing! We had two adults and two elementary age children, spent 60 bucks and could barely finish it all, meaning we spent about 15 each to eat one of the best meals in the whole city.

The cafe at the AA museum is located on the bottom floor. Despite some other reviews, I wanna say first off want to say the food I had was amazing!! 9/10! The fried chicken was seasoned well and fried crispy. The sides I had, Mac & cheese, collard & potato salad were decent. Me and my mother went just before they closed and the food was still coming out fresh & hot. Even tho it closes at 3, they still took some customers, they’re definitely trying to sell out everything to have no waste. Also S/O to the nice woman controlling the line, she was handling the crowd wonderfully.
